Advances in technologies for reservoir characterization and modeling
Convener: Maddalena PerriniECSECS | Co-conveners: Daniel BarreraECSECS, Elisabetta Billotta, Bianca Ceccon, Raffaele Castaldo

Advances in instrumentation and reservoir modelling are essential for understanding and monitoring geothermal, magmatic, hydrogen and water reservoir systems. This session will focus on advanced instrumentation techniques that support reservoir characterization and in-situ monitoring together with innovative modelling approaches. Topics will include geological characterization of reservoirs, fluid migration, hazard management, system performance and the integration of geological, geophysical, engineering, and laboratory data. Emphasis will be placed on the use of data acquisition tools, geophysical imaging and in-situ monitoring systems for multiphysical reservoir characterization to enhance monitoring capabilities. Contributions focusing on the analytical and numerical modelling of reservoir processes, as well as interdisciplinary studies that highlight related physical properties, will be welcome. Laboratory measurements will play a critical role in calibrating and validating models, providing essential insights into the physical and chemical properties of reservoirs. We invite contributions that explore how advanced instrumentation and modelling techniques can address energy and hazard challenges, improve efficiency, mitigate risks, and enhance the operational and environmental sustainability within these dynamic systems.
