Welcome to the conveners section of the EGU26 General Assembly website. In this section you will find everything you need to propose, manage, and deliver a great scientific session at EGU26!

The conveners at the EGU General Assembly play a critical role in directing the focus of cutting edge scientific conversations held across our 22 scientific divisions, as well as across those subject boundaries through the Inter- and Trans-disciplinary Sessions (ITS), and through co-organizing with each other. Everyone who volunteers to be a convener at EGU is directly involved with the EGU’s bottom up structure, where you, the members, decide who we are as a Union, and what scientific conversations we are having today – so thank you for stepping into this important role!

This section includes guides and resources for everything you will need to convene a session at EGU, whether in the scientific sessions and Inter- and Trans-disciplinary Sessions (ITS), Education and Outreach Symposia (EOS), the keynote Union Symposia (US) and Great Debates (GDB), or a Short Course (SC), follow the links for our in-depth guidelines.

This section also includes useful resources to help you run your session in May, with Chairperson guidelines and a guide for how to use the EGU's virtual networking platform on Gather.

Do not forget that the meeting goes far beyond just the scientific sessions; you can also organize a Townhall Meeting or Splinter Meeting, or take part in the Art-Science activities at the meeting, interact with the teachers participating in the GIFT training, or organize a social event through our pop-up networking event scheduler!

Whatever you choose to do, do not forget that the EGU Programme Committee are here to support you, and if you have any questions, please reach out and ask. Do not forget to check the deadlines and milestones to keep on top of our timeline, and sign up for our Monthly updates to stay connected. Whether this is your 1st time convening a session at an EGU General Assembly, or your 25th, then we hope you have an exciting and fulfilling experience.
