Welcome to your March Update for the 2026 EGU General Assembly, to be held 3–8 May 2026, both on-site in Vienna, Austria, and virtually. To keep you up to date, we will be sending you important EGU26 information, 'EGU26 Updates,' at least once per month - at the beginning of the month. You will still receive direct emails when tasks have a specific deadline, so make sure you check your email settings so that you don’t miss anything!
So, what do you need to do in March?
For conveners
- Session organization tool 'SOIII - Presentation selection' must be completed by 4 March 2026. Conveners can organize the order of the presentations in their sessions, add subtitles and, when relevant, include short-duration discussions.
- You can contact your authors using the Mail Tool to make sure their presentation is displayed with the right status (on-site or virtual), and for any additional information you wish to convey.
- Conveners must assign a chairperson to attend and co-ordinate each part of their session, for both on-site and virtual presentations. See the convener guidelines for more information.
- The letter of schedule will be sent out to authors on 13 March 2026, with information about the scheduled day and time of your session. The full meeting programme will be available on the EGU26 website on the same day.
- If you are a convener of a US/GDB session, the SOIII tool will also be open for you to enter your panel speakers and your planned timing. You can also login and adjust the session description using the Session Modification tool. Please ensure that your panel is, at the minimum, following our guidelines for speaker diversity.
- Registration is open for EGU26, and our volunteer Council voted to not increase any of the costs to attend the General Assembly, so choose your preferred option now. Early-bird registration is available until 1 April 2026, 13:00 CEST.
- Already registered for on-site participation? Check your name badge information and add stickers to indicate your Division, employment status and more!
- Free childcare slots will open for booking on 16 March 2026 after the letter of schedule has been sent out. For additional childcare support options, please visit the Childcare services page.
- Have a question about being a session convener, running a Union Symposium (US) or Great Debate (GDB), or holding a Short Course (SC)? Find the answers on the EGU26 website!
- If you require a letter of invitation, final requests for these must be received by 1 April 2026, 13:00 CEST. Find out the ways we can and cannot help with visa applications, and request your letter of invitation here.
- Looking to learn more about the various hybrid presentation formats? Check out all the current information on the EGU26 website.
- The EGU26 app and personal programme will be available soon, watch the EGU26 website for release information.
- Support your colleagues at the General Assembly - the EGU26 Peer Support programme is now open for experienced and novice attendees. Submit your name to take part by 31 March 2026!
- Take the opportunity to connect on a specific topic by applying for a Splinter Meeting! All types of Splinter Meetings are available for booking now.
- Prepare your calendar with all the EGU26 important dates by checking our Deadlines and Milestones page.
For authors
- The EGU26 Letters of Schedule for all abstracts will be sent out on 13 March 2026. The full meeting programme will be available on the EGU26 website on the same day.
- Ensure that your abstract information is up-to-date in terms of presentation format (on-site/virtual) and that the correct author has been assigned as presenting author. If you need to change your presentation format (e.g. on-site to virtual), please email your request to egu26@copernicus.org as soon as possible (the feasibility of a change will depend on your presentation type: poster/PICO/oral).
